"I could ask her for some food, she seems kind enough" Jack thought.
"Excuse me, little girl, what is your name?" Jack asked the little girl in red.
The girl responded, "My name is Blanchette, I was just walking to my grandmother's cottage to her food. My Mother sent me"
"Hello Blanchette, my name is Jack. Could you be so kind as to spare some of your food? I have not eaten in quite a while, and I can not afford any food myself"
Heavens no, why would I ever do such a thing? My mother would kill me if I gave away the food for my grandmother. You do not deserve it anyway; you are just a dirty old hobo" Blanchette turned Jack away rudely and walked further into the forest.
Jack thought, "Well, that little girl would not spare any food, but I am sure I could convince her grandmother."
And so, Jack followed Blanchette and eventually figured out where her grandmothers' cottage was and arrived there before Blanchette did. When Jack entered the cottage, he searched for Blanchette's grandmother.
"Excuse me? Is anyone there?" Jack wandered throughout the cottage, stopping at every door hoping Blanchette's grandmother was behind one of them. Eventually, Jack came upon a big mahogany door with a worn-down brass doorknob. He turned the doorknob, and with a squeak, the great door opened, revealing an elderly woman laying on a small bed.
"Pardon me, miss, are you awake?" Jack said as politely as he could, not wanting to disturb the woman. The woman sat up sharply and looked at Jack, terrified. The woman let out a blood curdling scream and jumped out of the bed. Jack walked over to the woman to calm her down, but the woman, in an act of self defense, charged at Jack. Jack panicked and threw his arms in front of his body. In doing so, Jack incidentally hit the woman, and her head smacked against the bed corner.
Jack stood in horror as thick blood seeped from the head of the woman's lifeless body.
"I-I never meant to-" Jack said as he backed away from the body, gagging. The door creaked behind Jack, and he swing around.
"What- what are you doing?!" Blanchette yelled as she walked away from the bedroom door, teary-eyed.
Jack walked towards Blanchette, trying to explain.
"G-get away from me!" Blanchette screamed as she ran through the door, slamming it behind her. Jack opened the door and ran after Blanchette, smacking into her as soon as he went through the doorframe. Blanchette fell to the floor and was now fully sobbing.
"W-what's wrong with you?!" Blanchette said as she crawled away from Jack. Blanchette grabbed a knife from the kitchen and attempted to attack Jack. Jack ducked as she swung at him, and Blanchette indirectly stuck the knife into her own stomach. She coughed up scarlet blood and fell to the floor. Jack knelt to meet Blanchette as she took her last breathes. He held her in his lap as he was almost frozen with shock. Jack began to cry. It as small whimpers, but eventually rolled into strong wailing, his body shaking with each sharp intact of air between sobs. He had never wanted it to be this way
